When Green Councillors are elected, they really work hard for you, and it really makes a difference! Here are just some of the things Ria and Esther Sutton have been doing in November:
- Esther and Ria joined the Croydon and London protests calling for a ceasefire in Israel and Palestine, a release of all hostages and people imprisoned arbitrarily, and humanitarian aid for all who need it.
- Ria spoke at the Parliamentary launch of the ‘Catering for Everyone’ report about promoting plant-based food in councils.
- Ria spoke at the ‘Be a Councillor’ event aimed at encouraging more disabled people to become local Councillors.
- Esther attended a meeting of the Tamworth Resident’s Association to support them in their work.
- Ria chaired a Streets and Environment Scrutiny meeting discussing the air quality action plan, clean streets, and the local plan.
- Ria successfully called for Trans flag to be raised outside Croydon Town Hall for Trans Day of Remembrance. It was disappointing that there wasn’t a flag raising ceremony as there would be for other events and we will continue pushing for that next year.
- Ria visited Lighthouse Educational Society for their cookery club, attended One Croydon’s Local Community Partnerships Showcase Event, Croydon BME Forum’s Wellbeing Matters Pop-up event and London Council’s event on London’s Jewish community.
