Our Fairfield Councillor Roundup for December

Your Green Councillors were really busy throughout 2023! Here are some of the actions Ria Patel and Esther Sutton were taking in December:

  • Ria spoke at the council meeting to highlight the problems with the mayor’s housing strategy and also attended a meeting on community-led housing.
  • Esther met with local business owners to discuss planning applications and Ria visited the new Kurdish community café at West Croydon – Share Café.
  • Esther and Ria helped organised the vigil outside the Home Office to remember Leonard Farruku who died on the Bibby Stockholm and to protest the hostile immigration system.

Ria also raised the lack of housing for refugees in the council meeting.
  • Ria and Esther took part in the Christmas big give at Our Space organised by Percy’s Homeless Hub.
  • Ria spoke at a number of protests calling for a ceasefire in Palestine and Israel.
  • Ria attended the new Advisory Forum on Active, Sustainable and Accessible Transport in Croydon – a forum we have been calling for for over a year.

We wish you all a happy new year and looking forward to getting even more hardworking Greens elected in 2024!
